Let's Change 2020 Into A Great One

The McDevitt Field Hockey team is a combination of very talented student athletes. We have been on the field the past few weeks training and working on our various skills. In these next few weeks we will play to possibly have the opportunity in the short playoff season.

Precautions

Earlier this year the PIAA had stated there were to be no gatherings and/or practices to be held. Now with state limitations lifted the board has granted schools to proceed with caution to hold athletic activities.

However there certain rules and regulations we are to follow.

What does this mean?

For summer practices to commence students are to follow a series of protocols. First everyone is to print out the attachment and bring it with them to the first attended practice. Following every attended practice there will be daily temperature checks to ensure the safety of our organization. If an individual has a temperature 100.4 or above they will be sent home and not allowed to practice. During practice all individuals are to wear face coverings. We recommend athletes getting gaiters so they can pull them down while participating in a drill (and once returned to the group it is easier to pull back up).

We understand that this is out of the usual but it will become the new norm for everyone. This means we need to learn and adapt this new 'style' of practice.

The Stadium

To help all of our athletes we are going to adapt new rules. First everyone will be expected to follow these new rules as it will help us maintain a healthy team. We will have a hand sanitizing station where everyone will be asked to sanitize there hands entering and exiting the stadium. This is also where athletes will have there temperature taken. Athletes are also expected to arrive ready to play and to have ample water (as the water fountains will not be accessible).

Unfortunately to limit foot traffic into the stadium nonessential personnel are not able to watch practice. This does include parents, siblings,etc. If an individual is picking up an athlete it is strongly recommended that they stay in there vehicle waiting till the end of practice. This is so McD can regulate the amount of individuals in the stadium at a certain time. We do ask if a student is to be picked up it can be as prompt as possible so there isn't a student congregation at the gate. This will also help staff/coaches clean the equipment and facilities.

Every day is changing we will keep you updated as information becomes available to us. This season will be one for the books but if everyone can work together and adapt to these new rules we can make it a great one.
